Is this book good? Everyone raves about it, so I just bought it. I need to read it before the movie comes out because I never watch a movie before I read the book!
I enjoyed the book immensely. I found it a little slow at the beginning until some of the maids agreed to help Skeeter by telling their stories.
I love reading about cultures and time periods that are so different from mine. It shocks me a little that for so many many years people treated black people like they are lesser humans than whites. I was raised differently and had a really good example of tolerance from my mother.
I'm reading this right now too! I like it so far! I'm only 5 chapters in. And I too refuse to see a movie before I read the book.
